the 3 that will still pose without putting up a fight ;)

my Joshie with his new glasses - look at those dimples :)

This year, like every other, I have many things to be thankful for. I thought that I'd list a just a few.

We had a nice Thanksgiving this year. We spent the day at Carol's (in her new home) with Danielle and her family and Nick's cousin Jeremie. The food was great as usual - ham, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes & gravy, broccoli rice casserole, green bean casserole, baked macaroni & cheese, whipped cherry salad, cranberry sauce, rolls.....pumpkin pie, apple pie, and even cheesecake. Yum. We even played our traditional game of dominoes while enjoying a cup of coffee. In the evening we went to Aunt Norma's to enjoy more family time and of course some more pumpkin pie.

The only thing missing was time spent with my mom. She had to work all day and wasn't feeling all that great. :(

Yesterday (Black Friday) Nick and I decided not to go shopping until the afternoon. There weren't any door busters that we just had to have and we avoided the crowds. It was pretty tame by the time we went. We did get a lot of our Christmas shopping done, so that's good.

Today, has been pretty lazy. I did some housework and laundry. Nick went out to lunch with Chris W., who's in town for the holiday and this evening we will probably order some pizza and the rest of the family can spend some time with him.

Well, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Enjoy the rest of the weekend. :)

About a month ago the school nurse called me. She had done a vision check on Josh and was quite concerned. She didn't tell me much except that there was a problem with the vision in his right eye.

Yesterday was his appointment with the optometrist. We found out that he is far-sighted and has astigmatism in both of his eyes. We were not surprised that our son would have some vision problems - Nick and I both wear glasses but...we are near-sighted. Weird, considering it is usually genetic. Anyway, the doctor was very concerned. Both eyes are affected but his right is pretty significant. He will have to wear glasses full time and hope that that eye will "catch up". She is starting him off with a weaker prescription than what he needs due to the transition. If that eye still hasn't gotten any better by next summer, he may have to wear a patch over his left eye for awhile. I guess that will "force" that eye to work how it should.

Kudos to the school for catching this. There were no outward symptoms at home, no squinting, head tilting, etc. If they hadn't caught it he could've ended up with a lazy eye and most likely would have had to have corrective surgery. Scary.

So, in two weeks you will see my little guy in his cool new glasses. He's so excited. He was disappointed that he didn't get to take home the pair home that he picked out all by himself. :)

the belated birthday

look at all of those candles!! (32)

my little Nick always trying to be funny :)

he actually blew them all out in one shot. lol

Not too much new right now. Last week was a long one. Nick's birthday was last Tuesday. Unfortunately I ended up with a terrible migraine that landed me in the ER for most of the day. I was supposed to be cooking a big dinner for him and my dear friend Deanna and her husband. My poor Nick spent the day taking care of me and Andrew. I wasn't even able to make him his cake. He's such a wonderful man. Not once did he complain or even look disappointed. He was solely dedicated to making sure I was as comfortable as possible. I love him so much.

On Wednesday, I tried to make it up to him a little bit. I made him his cake (he requested carrot w/cream cheese frosting, much to the children's chagrin) and we celebrated his birthday. I did make him light all of those candles though. ;)
